Location: Castries, Saint Lucia
Themes: main-event

Errol Charles had represented the monarch in Saint Lucia since November 2021, first as acting Governor-General following the resignation of Sir Neville Cenac and, from 1 November 2024, by formal appointment. During his tenure he presided over the accession of King Charles III, the passage of the constitutional amendment making the Caribbean Court of Justice Saint Lucia's final court, and the general election of December 2025. Sir Errol Charles demitted office on 31 July 2026. The Office of the Prime Minister announced that Felix Finisterre would serve as acting Governor-General with effect from 1 August 2026, Emancipation Day. Finisterre had a background in education, community development, sustainable tourism, public administration and regional development, and had recently received an award for his work in community-based tourism and heritage conservation. Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre thanked Charles for his service. The change was the latest in a series of transitions at Government House since Dame Pearlette Louisy's twenty-year tenure ended in 2017, with three holders of the office, two of them initially in an acting capacity, in under a decade. The Governor-General, appointed by the monarch on the advice of the prime minister, formally appoints ministers, summons and dissolves Parliament and assents to legislation, so continuity in the office is an important part of the island's constitutional machinery. At this point in the timeline (31 July 2026), the King of Saint Lucia was Charles III (8 September 2022 – present); the Governor-General of Saint Lucia was Sir Errol Charles (1 November 2024 – 31 July 2026). Government: the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia was Philip J. Pierre (28 July 2021 – present).
