Fathi Bashagha, a former air force pilot and influential GNA interior minister from Misrata, was appointed prime minister by the House of Representatives after it declared Dbeibah's mandate expired. His Government of National Stability failed to enter Tripoli, notably after clashes in May and August 2022, and operated from Sirte until the House suspended him in May 2023.
