Kragbé Gnagbé was a Bété political leader from the Gagnoa region who founded the banned Parti national africain. On 27 October 1970 he led about 100 armed followers against Gagnoa and proclaimed the 'Republic of Eburnia' with himself as chancellor; government forces crushed the rising about a week later. He is not a hereditary chief, but is the best-documented Bété leader.
