Ahaz faced an invasion by Rezin of Aram-Damascus and Pekah of Israel in the Syro-Ephraimite War and appealed to Tiglath-Pileser III of Assyria. Judah became an Assyrian vassal, a decision opposed by the prophet Isaiah. Dates follow the conventional Thiele chronology (732-716 BCE (co-regent from 735)); Albright gives 735-715 BCE.
