Chaka, son of the Mongol leader Nogai and husband of George Terter I's daughter Elena, seized the Bulgarian throne in 1299 after his father's defeat by Khan Tokhta. His rule was short: his brother-in-law Theodore Svetoslav, with support from the nobility and the Golden Horde, deposed him and had him strangled in prison in 1300.
